The Ted Hendricks Foundation is pleased to announce that Clemson University's Da'Quan Bowers has become the ninth recipient
of the Ted Hendricks Award. Bowers dominated the final round of voting, collecting more than 50% of the selection committee's responses.
Purdue's Ryan Kerrigan was second in the balloting, while Iowa's Adrian Clayborn and J.J. Watt of Wisconsin shared third-place honors.
Finalists Von Miller from Texas A&M and Jabaal Sheard from Pittsburgh also received votes.
Bowers leads all FBS players this season with 15.5 sacks and is second only to Ryan Kerrigan in tackles for loss with 25.
Bowers is also the 2010 Bronko Nagurski Award winner and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
His other accomplishments this season include:

- AFCA First-Team All America
- National Defensive Player of the Year (Scout.com)
- Bednarik Award Finalist, Lombardi Award Finalist
- Nine consecutive games with a sack this season - a new Clemson record
- Second on the team with 67 tackles
- Led the Tigers with 19 QB pressures
- Opponents lost 151 yards on his 25 tackles for loss
In addition to his on-field success, Bowers, since his youth, has been a performer with the Legendary Singing Stars, a national touring
gospel group which was founded by Da'Quan's late father.
After announcing his 2010 winner, Ted Hendricks had the following statement:
"Da'Quan Bowers is an excellent choice for this year's winner. I like the way he plays the run because he really manhandles his opponents.
This is an individual who possesses sheer natural talent.
In the past, some have questioned his pass-rush abilities, but he's the nation's sack leader this year! Any more questions? Da'Quan
clearly impressed our selection committee members, and i think they have made another fine choice."
Should he decide to return to Clemson for his senior season, the 6'4" 275-lb junior from Bamberg, SC has the potential to become
the second repeat-winner of the Hendricks Award. David Pollack of Georgia is currently the only two-time recipient, accomplishing
that feat in the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
Formal presentation of the 2010 Ted Hendricks Award trophy will take place this coming March in Miami, FL (specific place and time to
be announced). The Ted Hendricks Foundation would like to again thank our selection committee for their continued
interest and support. We are looking forward to your participation again next year!
